Today's Morning Edition music is from "Kind of a Drag" by the Buckinghams, which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 50 years ago.
They formed on the north side of Chicago and got their first break in 1965 when they appeared in 13 episodes of a program called "All Time Hits Show," which was broadcast on WGN-TV.
At the time the band was known as the Pulsations, but someone at the station suggested they come up with a new name that would suggest they were part of the British Invasion, and that's how they became the Buckinghams.
