Police investigate 'suspicious male' report at Lake Elmo Elementary

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says it's stepped up patrols in Lake Elmo following a suspicious man who entered Lake Elmo Elementary School this week.

A man approached after-school program staff at Lake Elmo Elementary School Wednesday afternoon asking for a child by name who was enrolled there, said sheriff's department commander Cheir Dexter. Staff directed the man to administration and the man left on foot.

"Nobody from the school knows who this party was and the family does not know who this party was, so we are trying to identify who this might be and what their intent was being at the school," said Dexter.

The man is described as white, middle-aged, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with oily unkempt white colored shoulder length hair. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call the department's tip line at 651-430-7850.

"We're also telling the public and parents to use their safety plans with their children and to call any suspicious activity that's occurring in to 911," Dexter said.
