Minneapolis police say the missing toddler who was the subject of an Amber Alert early Tuesday has been found safe and the suspect who allegedly abducted him is in custody.

Harlen Hulbert, 2 1/2, was taken by two men, one of whom stabbed the boy's mother in the leg before fleeing. Authorities say the assailant is the mother's ex-boyfriend and the child's father.

The child was unharmed and the mother is expected to recover from the wound; they've been reunited, Minneapolis police Sgt. Catherine Michal told reporters.

She praised the response of neighbors who dialed 911 and provided detailed descriptions of the suspect and the car he fled in. She also applauded the suspect's family for helping bring him into custody.

"This is a perfect ending," she said. "The community came together, best case scenario."

The other suspect, she added, has been located but has not been arrested, and the investigation continues into what triggered the stabbing and abduction.
