A major drought in Somalia is putting the nation in danger of a famine that could harm millions of people. Many people already have died from hunger.

This Friday, some 50 restaurants and coffee shops around the Twin Cities metro area are joining forces to raise money for relief efforts.

Dine Out For Somalia is the creation of local restaurant owners who are hoping to raise at least $150,000.

Moussa Doulaeh, executive chef of Afro Deli, a participating restaurant, joined All Things Considered host Tom Crann to talk about the fundraiser and Somali food.
