Today's Morning Edition music is from "Pool Palace Cigar" by the Suicide Commandos off their new album "Time Bomb," which comes out Friday.

The song is about the small-town bars where the band would hang out before shows back in the day.

In the 1970s the Suicide Commandos were influential trailblazers in the Minnesota punk scene. They broke up in 1979 and until now have only come together for occasional reunion shows.

"Time Bomb" is their first studio album since their debut 39 years ago. The story of the Suicide Commandos is part of a new oral history book put together by Cyn Collins. It's called "Complicated Fun: The Birth of Minneapolis Punk and Indie Rock 1974 to 1984."
