Police: 2 women raped, robbed near Raspberry Island in downtown St. Paul

Two women were forced into a car and sexually assaulted by at least one man in a parking lot near Raspberry Island in downtown St. Paul, police said.

St. Paul police believe they have all four suspects in the Tuesday attack in custody.

It started sometime before 2 a.m. when four men approached the women and the two men they were with, police said. One suspect pulled a gun and told the group to give up their valuables and get on the ground.

Then, the women were forced into a suspect's car and sexually assaulted, according to police. The four suspects fled on foot.

Shortly after, officers searched the area and alerted neighboring departments. Police in West St. Paul took three of the men into custody for an unrelated robbery, as they matched descriptions of suspects in the Raspberry Island incident.

St. Paul police found the fourth suspect around noon Tuesday.

One of the victims knew one of the suspects, police said.
