Sonny Knight died on June 17 at the age of 69 after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

His family moved to St. Paul when Knight was 7. He recorded his first single "Tears on My Pillow" as a teenager in the 1960s. After that, he joined the Army and then worked for many years as a truck driver.

It wasn't until 2014 that Knight achieved stardom as a singer. He released two critically-acclaimed studio albums with the Lakers on the Secret Stash record label. Funeral services for Sonny Knight have not been announced yet.
