Polaris issues 11th recall this year

Medina, Minn.-based Polaris has issued its second recall in two weeks, the 11th this year for its snowmobiles and ATVs.

The latest involves 2,800 Scramble ATVs.

"The throttle release switch can fail," said Elizabeth Klinefelter, a spokeswoman for the Consumer Product Safety Commission. "This poses a crash hazard to users. Polaris has received nine reports of the throttle release switch failing, and that resulted in two minor injuries."

The machines were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from April 2013 through June of this year for about $13,300 each. The company says consumers should immediately stop using the Scramble ATVs and contact Polaris for a free repair.

Two weeks ago the company recalled 17,000 recreational vehicles with fuel tank and wiring problems.
