As hunting season opens, Minnesota wildlife officials ponder future of deer

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is in the process of creating a statewide deer management plan. It's intended to be a big-picture approach that will go beyond the annual hunt. On the eve of the deer season, MPR News host Tom Weber spoke with Steve Merchant, wildlife populations manager at the Minnesota DNR.
