As transgender pioneer, Danica Roem also wants to focus on 'boring' issues

Danica Roem made history last month when she was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

In an election that saw big gains for Democrats, Roem's victory over a longtime incumbent also made her the first openly transgender person elected to the Virginia General Assembly. It happened the same day two transgender candidates won seats on the Minneapolis City Council — Andrea Jenkins and Philippe Cunningham.

Roem was in the Twin Cities for a political fundraiser Monday night. She came by the MPR studios to talk with Tom Weber.
