Republican Pete Stauber, currently serving his second term as St. Louis County commissioner, Democrat Joe Radinovich, a former DFL legislator, and Independent Ray "Skip" Sandman, a Fond du Lac tribal elder, are all vying for the open seat in Minnesota's 8th Congressional District.

Current DFL Rep. Rick Nolan announced he wouldn't be running for re-election earlier this year, a move that has huge political ramifications. Both parties have fought hard over the northern Minnesota district that President Donald Trump won in 2016.

All three candidates have met in debate, where they've battled over mining in the region.
