President Obama has signed a bill delaying the nation's transition to digital TV broadcasting. All TV stations were to make the switch from analog to digital next week.
The new date is June 12. Consumers have more time to buy digital TVs, get converter boxes for their old sets or subscribe to cable. Lawmakers had feared millions of Americans weren't ready for the switch.
TV stations complain the delay will be costly, and hundreds plan to commence their all-digital broadcasts next Tuesday, anyway.
