Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently faced some testy questions about waterboarding during the Bush administration.
On Sunday, Rice was asked what she thought of President Obama's views of tactics the Bush administration used to get information from detainees. Her questioner was 10-year-old Misha Lerner, a fourth-grader at the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation's Capital.
"The president was only willing to authorize policies that were legal in order to protect the country," Rice replied. "And I hope people understand that it was a struggle; it was a difficult time."
Misha tells Robert Siegel he asked the question because he thought it would "be interesting to see her answer on it."
Misha had originally planned to ask Rice: If you were in the Obama administration, would you push for torture? But he says he was persuaded to "make it a little softer."
He says he would also like to ask Obama questions.
"I want to know what they are doing to stop the swine flu and, you know, stuff about the stimulus package," he says.
