Organizations that give away food to the needy are being challenged as never before by a surge in need. At the same time, some of their traditional suppliers are not coming up with donations. In recent years, many large corporations have cut back on surplus production, and have found ways to sell dented or mislabeled products to dollar food stores through a middleman. All of that used to be the food that would have been donated to food banks.
