When Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded a Detroit-bound airliner he did so with an American visa. The suspect in the thrwarted Christmas Day bombing also applied for a visa to Britain, which turned him down. Abdulmutallab was seeking a student visa to a non-existent school.
