Facebook and I haven’t been friends up to now.
Not that we’ve been estranged. We were just never properly introduced.
But with two movies -- Catfish (about a Facebook friendship) and The Social Network (about how Facebook got started) -- coming out within days of each other, I figured a crash course was in order. I’ve now been friended a few times, and I've learned how to do things everyone else on the planet’s been doing for ages.
The reason I’m mentioning all this is that when I was figuring out how to fill three minutes of All Things Considered airtime about Catfish without giving too much away -- the poster’s tag line, remember, is "Don't Let Anyone Tell You What It Is" -- I hit on the idea that a Facebook-style review might get at the picture’s larger questions without my having to say anything too specific about them. So I tried to approximate a Facebook review on-air. Yeah, yeah, I know: very meta.
But trying to make a visual format work as audio was a fun challenge. Cracked my editor up, so I guess it at least sorta works. You can listen to it, if you like.
Then, having laid out on air what a Catfish review might look like on Facebook, I thought I’d try to actually do it on Facebook.
1) I'm a newbie, and I have no idea if this is gonna work, so ... when you speak of this, and you will, please be kind.
2) It's Facebook, so remember it's gonna read backwards, from bottom to top.
