Twenty-three years ago this week, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spilled millions of gallons of oil into waters off the coast of Alaska. Now the ship — which after the spill was renamed the Oriental Nicety — is headed to the scrap heap. The more than 200,000-ton vessel will fetch $16 million for its scrap parts.
