Giuliani Endorsed by Televangelist Pat Robertson — Televangelist Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition, is endorsing Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani. This comes as a surprise to some since Giuliani backs abortion and gay rights, a position that puts him in conflict with most conservative organizations.
The former New York mayor has been working to win over social conservatives by saying he'd appoint judges who'd strictly interpret the Constitution. He also says that at least he's better than Sen. Hillary Clinton, a fellow New Yorker who is the frontrunner on the Democratic ticket.
Opposition to Clinton is also the reason that a leading conservative favors Sen. John McCain of Arizona. Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas ran for president himself until he dropped out of the race in October. He called McCain "the best pro-life candidate to beat Hillary Clinton."
And Mitt Romney of Massachusetts may also benefit from a conservative Christian's endorsement. Last month, he got an endorsement from the chancellor of fundamentalist Christian Bob Jones University, Bob Jones III
