Earlier this month, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) hauled in a whopping 63-pound king salmon from Alaska's Kenai River. The event raised about $800,000 for river conservation and involved eight other U.S senators.
This year's fundraiser was co-hosted by the senator's father, Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski, and also drew the state's other U.S. senator, Ted Stevens. It was attended by about 200 people, many of them lobbyists and executives from major U.S. industries.
The other senators who participated in the friendly "fish-off" were all Republicans: Kit Bond of Missouri, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Larry Craig of Idaho, Michael Enzi of Wyoming, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Pat Roberts of Kansas and John Sununu of New Hampshire.
Murkowski discusses her winning catch -- and how it compares to other congressional fish stories.
