Autumn officially begins at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will be cool but not cold. Rain returns early Thursday and then again in a couple of wet waves this coming weekend.

We’ll finally see some sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday after several gloomy days. It will also be a bit warmer Wednesday with highs near 70-degrees. The next chance of rain develops Thursday. 


Brighter skies return Tuesday and Wednesday 

Summer is officially winding down and the weather is already starting to feel a lot more like fall. We’ll have a chilly finish to the season, a chance for frost in northern Minnesota and some rain to keep things unsettled through parts of the week.


Chilly, cloudy weather holds on as summer comes to an end

Another mostly cloudy and chilly day is on tap across Minnesota to start the week, with temperatures struggling to reach 60 degrees for much of the region.

A cooler weather pattern will keep highs in the 60s this week, with some overnight lows dropping into the 30s and 40s. There’s also a slight chance of rain across southern Minnesota on Monday.

Clouds are expected to fill back in as the day progresses, although a little sunshine should still help temperatures climb into the low to mid-60s.

Torrential rainfall across southeastern Minnesota has caused widespread flooding and sent area rivers rising, with more heavy rain possible Saturday across parts of northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.

A widespread soaking is falling across Minnesota Friday, delivering much-needed moisture. More rain is expected Friday night into early Saturday, with the heaviest downpours targeting southeastern Minnesota and areas near the Iowa border.

Friday will be wet and windy. Rain will be heavy at times with the heaviest likely in southern Minnesota. Clouds will linger along with slightly cool temperatures for the weekend. 


A soggy Friday with heavy rainfall potential for southern Minnesota  

Minnesota is heading toward a potentially soggy end to the week with widespread heavy rain expected Friday into early Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is currently expected from the Twin Cities metro area south toward the Minnesota–Iowa border, where 3 to 5 inches or more could fall.

Summer is officially winding down and the weather is already starting to feel a lot more like fall. We’ll have a chilly finish to the season, a chance for frost in northern Minnesota and some rain to keep things unsettled through parts of the week.

Storms dumped well over a half-foot of rain on the community in Waseca County from late Friday into early Saturday, causing flooding that swamped streets and surrounded buildings and vehicles.

Cleanup continues after major flooding in New Richland

Minnesota weather: Cool, cloudy Monday

Floodwaters covered streets in the cities of New Richland and Spring Valley after more than a half-foot of rain fell late Friday and early Saturday. The torrential downpours also sent mudslides across state highways.
