Plenty of sunshine, low humidity, and temperatures in the lower 80s will make for a nearly perfect August day to spend outside. It’s the kind of forecast that reminds us summer still has plenty left to offer.

Showers and storms wrap up Friday night, with a pleasant weekend ahead. Seasonal temperatures continue Saturday before rain chances return Sunday.

A weak cool front will touch off some spotty midday thunder Friday. Muggy air will move south and then march back north over the weekend. Monday may yield better rain chances. 


Meandering frontal boundary to touch off spotty storms 

There are only a few rain chances in the coming week for Minnesota, and most of those only affect a small part of the state at any one time. Will we see some tropical help from rains like we did in 1949, 1983, and 2020? A new NHC outlook is even lower. 


Any hope for tropical moisture in MN?

The latest drought monitor shows some encouraging improvement across Minnesota following some recent rainfall. However, the areas experiencing the most significant drought saw little relief. 


Rain helps some, but severe drought holds firm across northern Minnesota

Thursday will still be a nice, mostly comfortable day. Dew points and temperatures will be increasing some the next couple days which will lead to at least isolated thunder.

Red Lake and Beltrami County have been hit over & over

One of the fires destroyed a home early Tuesday morning on the Whiteface Reservoir in St. Louis County. The sheriff’s office said two people and two dogs in the home were able to escape before the building was fully engulfed in flames.
