Thousands of spectators will cram the streets of the LynLake neighborhood of south Minneapolis this weekend for the 12th annual Art Car Parade. The event brings together dozens of artists and their whimsical creations on wheels.

Jan Elftman of Minneapolis is founder of the art car parade. Elftman is an art car artist, whose most well-known creation is the "cork truck," a 1987 Mazda covered with 10,000 wine corks.

Minnesota Public Radio's Steven John met up with her at Intermedia Arts on Lyndale Ave. to get a first-hand look at "cars as art."
