Minnesota Liberians may lose protected status

Liberians in Minnesota have been following events in their African homeland closely this past year. Former Liberian President Charles Taylor was ousted, and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was elected. She was sworn in back in January. Now United States Citizenship and Immigration officials say the relative peace in Liberia allows them to rescind the "temporary protected status" that has allowed many Liberians to live here in the U.S.

MPR's Tom Crann spoke with University of Minnesota African Studies professor and Liberian native Wynfred Russell about the recent developments.
