Campaign board won't look into Ritchie allegations

Minnesota's campaign regulators won't investigate DFL Secretary of State Mark Ritchie.

A Republican who got a campaign solicitation from Ritchie after giving his e-mail address at an official state event had asked the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board to look into the matter.

The board reviewed the complaint from John Tomczak at a meeting on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, in letters to Tomczak and Ritchie, a management analyst with the board said none of the allegations would violate state campaign laws, so the board doesn't have jurisdiction to investigate.

The story isn't over, though.

The legislative auditor's investigation into data sharing between Ritchie's office and campaign is still pending.
