Northfield area Republicans to hold special election

Three Republicans in Senate district 25 are hoping to replace longtime Senator Tom Neuville, who stepped down after being appointed to a judgeship.

Former state Representative Ray Cox, Henderson Mayor Keith Swenson and former New Prague school board member Rod Tietz are all running in the primary. The GOP endorsed Cox for the seat.

The winner will face Democrat Kevin Dahle and Independence Party member Vance Norgaard in a January third special election. Dahle, a Northfield teacher, won the DFL endorsement over several other candidates. He won't face a primary opponent. Norgaard is an organic farmer in Northfield.
