The National Weather Service is issuing a flood watch for several rivers in northwestern Minnesota that have been prone to spring flooding in previous years.

The weather service office in Grand Forks says that snowmelt will cause the Buffalo River near Dilworth and the South Branch Buffalo River at Sabin to rise over the next few days.

The agency says minor flooding is possible.

The weather service says the South Branch Buffalo River is likely to reach flood stage by Saturday morning, and the Buffalo River by Sunday afternoon.
