Maine educator to lead Moorhead State Univ.
A University administrator from Maine will be the next president of Minnesota State University in Moorhead. The MNSCU chancellor will recommend Edna Szymanksi to lead the Moorhead campus.
If the MNSCU board approves, she will replace MSUM president Roland Barden, who is retiring.
The 56-year-old Szymanski is vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Maine. She has also worked at the University of Maryland College Park, and the University of Wisconsin Madison.
MNSCU Chancellor James McCormick says Szymanski's commitment to student-centered education makes her a good choice.
Szymanski will likely begin her new job in Moorhead in July pending approval next week by the MNSCU board.
