Two tied for lead at Women's Open after first day
On the first day of U.S. Open at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minnesotans Hilary Lunke and Michele Redman finished one over par.
Korean Ji Young Oh led the event after the first day of play, and was joined late in the day by American Pat Hurst. Hurst, who was playing in a threesome with three-time champion Annika Sorenstam, finished her round of 6-under 67 with an 8-iron that rolled off the fringe to 3 feet for a share of the lead with Ji Young Oh.
Martha Nause, 53, hit a shot into the water on 18th and finished the day five-over. "I'm getting too old for this," Nause was heard saying as she walked off the coures; she's the oldest player in this tournament.
There is also a lot of attention on three-time champion Annika Sorenstam, who is playing in her final U.S. Open before retiring. She finished two over par.
