The Minnesota budget deficit is expected to be $4.57 billion over the next two-year budget cycle, down from the previous estimate of $4.85 billion.  

Federal stimulus money helped reduce the number.  Without the federal help, the deficit would have been $6.4 billion.

The Minnesota budget deficit is expected to be $4.57 billion over the next two-year budget cycle, down from the previous estimate of $4.85 billion, according to state finance officials.  MPR's Tom Scheck previews the announcement coming this morning.
