Power of the April sun

I'll admit that I underestimated the power of the April sun yesterday. Despite a very chilly air mass over head with strong northwest winds, the mercury climbed to 45 degrees in the shade in the Twin Cities at mid afternoon.

Sunset today is the same as September 2nd, so you have a nice period of daylight. In fact it is probably not too early to put the UV index on your radar screen. According to the NOAA site, you can get some over exposure to the sun today after about 45 minutes.

We'll talk more about the UV index around Memorial Weekend. No sense getting too far ahead of ourselves, but it is a ray of sunshine after a rather long winter and a chilly start to April.
