Former Red Wing teacher sought in arson found dead

A former Red Wing teacher and football coach suspected of setting fire to a northeastern Minnesota town hall is dead, an apparent suicide.

The body of 45-year-old Kevin Horvat was found Monday in his sister's car in Hermantown.

Horvat had been missing for more than 24 hours after slipping away from a foster care facility.

Family members say Horvat had been struggling with Parkinson's disease. In January he moved to an adult foster care home run by his family in Duluth.

On Sunday, Horvat was suspected of setting fire to the Midway Town Hall. The fire caused extensive smoke and fire damage to the inside of the building. No one was hurt.

Authorities say Horvat died of a self-inflicted wound not caused by a firearm.
