Fifth person in Memorial Day crash dies
A fifth person traveling in a minivan that was involved in a Memorial Day weekend accident in Olmsted County has died, authorities said.
Two-year-old Carter Newell died early Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Four others died Saturday when 25-year-old Christopher Frisch collided his pickup truck into the Chevy Venture van.
Frisch told police he fell asleep before crashing into the side of the van. He also admitted he had been drinking beer at a Memorial Day weekend gathering, police said.

The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. at Highway 63 and Highway 30. The State Patrol says alcohol was detected on the driver of the pickup truck - and he was not injured.
There was no alcohol detected on any of the victims in the minivan.
The crash killed Terry M. Milholland, 45, of Beecher, Ill.; his 5-week-old son, Raymond; Heidi J. Newell, 19, of Rochester; and Jarah M. Beers, 23, of Rochester.
A sixth person in the van, 43-year-old Rita Seha, remains in fair condition at St. Mary's, according to hospital officials.
Frisch faces 24 felony counts for the crash, including multiple counts of criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation while under the influence of alcohol.
