Deputies investigate drowning in Dakota County lake

The Dakota County sheriff's office is investigation after an 80-year-old man apparently drowned in Lake Byllesby in southern Dakota County.

Authorities say the victim is Rupert Aloysious Schafer of Randolph Township.

His body was found by a fisherman early Sunday afternoon.

Schafer lived on the lake, and he was found near his pontoon boat and dock along the north shoreline.

While the preliminary cause of death is drowning, the Dakota County coroner's office will do its own investigation to confirm that.
