Democrat seeks rebuttal to Pawlenty's radio show

The top Democrat in the Minnesota Senate is taking aim at Gov. Tim Pawlenty's weekly radio show and asking for periodic rebuttal time.

Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller says WCCO AM shouldn't keep giving the Republican governor "unfettered and unanswered access." He says Pawlenty has used it to express partisan viewpoints and distort those of his political foes.

Pogemiller wrote the station manager asking that time be set aside after Pawlenty's show for Democratic lawmakers to sound off.

The manager, Mick Anselmo, didn't immediately return calls Wednesday.

When third party Gov. Jesse Ventura was in office, Republicans and Democrats were afforded rebuttal time to his weekly show. Then-House member Pawlenty helped push for that airwaves balance.
