Five counties in northeastern Minnesota will split more than $1 million in federal relief funds following storm damage and flooding earlier this year.
The counties were hit by storms and floods between March 16 and May 22 that caused millions of dollars in damage.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, has approved the following funds:
- Beltrami County: about $155,000 - Cook County: about $30,000 - Hubbard County: about $330,000 - Lake County: about $560,000 - Wadena County: about $45,000
The state of Minnesota will also receive more than $530,000 to help cover costs it incurred because of the storms.
