Finn Day events set for today in Chisholm

A Finn will fit right in at the Minnesota Discovery Center on Saturday in the Iron Range town of Chisholm.

That's because it's Finn Day, featuring Finnish music, food, song and dance.

The activities include a performance by the Finlandia Foundation's performer of the year, Terhi Miikki, who plays piano, accordion, organ and bassoon.

Visitors can also taste Finnish food, including a traditional fish or beef stew observe the art of making straw ornaments and figures and see a demonstration using birch bark.

Debra Rowbottom is the director of visitor services at Minnesota Discovery Center. She says she expects hundreds of people to turn up for the family-focused event.
