Minneapolis aviation manufacturer eyes N. Dakota expansion

An aviation manufacturing company could create about 100 jobs in Minot the next two years if a proposed loan is approved by the city council.

Administrators of a fund that provides incentives to new and existing businesses in Minot wants to loan $500,000 to Heliplane of Minneapolis.

Officials with Heliplane plan to begin making air cargo trailers in Minot after a product demonstration to the U.S. Army in September in Kentucky.

The loan would come from the Minot Area Growth through Investment and Cooperation Fund, also known as MAGIC. Funds are derived from city sales tax.

The jobs would have an average salary and benefits package of $65,000 a year.
