Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen is recovering from ankle surgery. Whalen says she had minor surgery to clean out the ankle shortly after her team won the WNBA Championship a few weeks ago.

Her recovery will delay the start of her season in the women's Euro-league by about six weeks. She plays for Prague and competes against lots of other WNBA stars who play all over Europe.

Whalen tells Minnesota Public Radio's Cathy Wurzer that being in the WNBA and the Euro-league means playing basketball pretty much year round.
