Ex-firefighter pleads guilty to drug charges
A former Minneapolis firefighter faces a potential maximum penalty of life in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine.
Brandon Josiha Granger admitted in federal court that for two years he conspired with others to distribute cocaine. Granger said he trafficked between 15 and 50 kilograms of cocaine between October 2009 and October 2011.
Under federal and state law, distribution of any cocaine is a felony; distribution of five kilograms or more triggers a federal mandatory minimum sentence of at least 10 years.
U.S. District Court Judge John Tunheim will decide the sentence.
The case is the result of an investigation by the FBI, the Minneapolis Police Department, and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
Granger, who is 34 years old, was a Minneapolis firefighter for six years.
