Man's body pulled from Lake Minnetonka

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Authorities have recovered the body of a young man who drowned in Lake Minnetonka.

The Hennepin County sheriff's office says sonar equipment Wednesday located the victim's body in 67 feet of water, about a mile from Big Island. The sheriff's dive team recovered the body of the 20-year-old Minnetonka man at 6:20 p.m.

Family members say the victim was celebrating his high school graduation when he disappeared.

The mother of Kennedy Maddox tells KMSP-TV her son was on a boat with friends late Tuesday afternoon and jumped in the water to cool off. Irene Maddox says a friend jumped in after him, but Kennedy never surfaced. She says her son knew how to swim, but wasn't wearing a life jacket.

Maddox graduated from Minnetonka High School a few weeks ago.
