Dozens of Edina residents displaced by fire

Investigators are looking for the cause of an apartment fire in Edina that caused dozens of residents to evacuate.

About 10 fire departments worked the fire at the 118-unit Parklawn Estates about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Flames quickly spread up the building and past the top floor of the three-story complex.

Edina Fire Chief Marty Scheerer tells KMSP-TV the fire alarms worked throughout the building, but the blaze could have been contained to one unit if the apartment had sprinklers.
