10 confirmed heat deaths in Wis.

Wisconsin now has 10 confirmed heat-related deaths since July 1.

The Dane County medical examiner's office has confirmed that the death of a 73-year-old Madison man was heat-related. The man died July 5 at his home.

The medical examiner says the apartment the man lived in had no air conditioning. The man was not living alone and was discovered within several hours of his death.

It's the first confirmed heat-related death in Dane County. La Crosse and Barron counties each have two confirmed heat deaths, while Juneau, Richland, Rock, Vernon and Kewaunee each have one.

State health officials say another 12 deaths in Wisconsin are possibly heat-related. Half of those deaths are in Milwaukee County.
