Driver killed on I-35W while inspecting tire

The driver of a semi-trailer was killed while he stopped on Interstate-35W in Richfield to inspect a blown tire, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The driver, a 51-year-old man from Fridley, had pulled his truck over to the shoulder of the southbound lane near 66th Street. The State Patrol said he was hit and killed by a car which had drifted from its lane, traveling in the same direction.

The driver has not been identified. The accident occurred just after 7 p.m., Minnesota State Patrol spokesperson Lt. Eric Roeske said.
