Ricocheting bullet hits Dassel boy

DASSEL, Minn. (AP) -- An 8-year-old boy is hospitalized at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis after he was hit in the head by a ricocheting bullet.

Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin says his department received a 911 call Thursday afternoon about the injury at a residence near Dassel. The caller said the boy had been accidentally hit when a sibling was firing a handgun.

The West Central Tribune says the bullet ricocheted off the ground and hit the boy in the head.
