$1,000 reward in fatal St. Cloud beating

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information on a fatal assault in a St. Cloud alley.

Twenty-year-old Colton Ryan Gleason, of Greenfield, was attacked Thursday night. He died of head trauma Friday night at a St. Cloud hospital.

Police said Sunday that Gleason was walking with two female friends when an older four-door mid- to full-sized light colored car stopped. Several people got out. One punched Gleason once, causing him to fall backward and strike his head.

It's still unclear what prompted the assault, but police say they have no reason to believe he and the assailant knew each other.

Police Chief Blair Anderson says they're hoping witnesses to the assault will step forward.
