Man sentenced for knocking out driver

A Bloomington man accused of hurling a heavy metal vise through a car windshield, knocking the driver unconscious, is sentenced to more than six years in prison.

National Guard Sgt. First Class Jonathan Stacke suffered severe injuries to his face, jaw and teeth when the vise crashed through his windshield.

Gerret Parks offered an apology in Hennepin County District Court Tuesday when he was sentenced to 75 months behind bars. KARE-TV reports Parks told the judge he was in a deep depression and drinking heavily when the incident occurred.

Investigators say they linked Parks to five incidents of thrown objects, although police had 14 reports of objects hurled at cars and trucks in Bloomington between December and February, including rocks, bottles and an anvil.
