Woman shot in car on I-35E ramp in Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) -- A woman was shot early Sunday in an apparent road rage incident on a metro area highway.

Eagan police say the 26-year-old woman was one of eight people in a Volkswagen Jetta that was being tailgated by a dark sport utility vehicle on an Interstate 35E entrance ramp in Eagan shortly before 2:30 a.m.

While on the ramp, the Jetta's driver slowed and made an obscene gesture toward the SUV. Police say that on the highway, the SUV then drove alongside the Jetta and someone from inside the SUV fired at least two shots, hitting the woman in the shoulder. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say they need the public's help. Many of the witnesses were intoxicated -- including the Jetta's driver, who was arrested for drunken driving.
