Fatal Minn. motel standoff inquiry complete

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has completed its investigation into an officer-involved shooting that left an unarmed man dead at a Woodbury motel.

A BCA spokeswoman tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that agents have presented their findings to the Ramsey County attorney's office for review.

The Washington County attorney's office asked Ramsey County to review the case to avoid a conflict of interest.

Woodbury police shot and killed an unarmed man they mistakenly believed had a weapon as he fled a hostage-filled motel room early on the morning of Aug. 31.

The Ramsey County attorney's office will review the case for possible criminal charges against the officers if there is evidence of wrongdoing.
