Man dies after falling into Miss. River

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Hennepin County authorities have recovered the body of a homeless man who slipped and fell into the Mississippi River.

The sheriff's office says two homeless men were camping near the river in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon. One man waded into the water and slipped.

The other man ran for help and found a fire truck and two Minneapolis firefighters nearby. One firefighter went into the river and pulled out the victim, who was 15 feet from shore. The man was dead.

The sheriff's office is handling the investigation.
