SPCO cancels concerts through Feb. 8

Management at the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Monday canceled all concerts through Feb. 8.

In a message to board members, donors, administrative staff and musicians, Interim SPCO President Dobson West said management is waiting for a counterproposal from musicians. With no indication when the counteroffer might be delivered and with no further negotiations scheduled, he said there is no option but to cancel concerts.

A musicians representative said the news is disappointing, but also expected. The SPCO has not played an official concert since October. The musicians, who have not received paychecks since the lock out, have two benefit concerts scheduled for Dec. 20 and 21 in Minneapolis.
