Lawyer suspended over affair with client
The Minnesota Supreme Court has suspended an Eagan lawyer accused of having an affair with a client who said he billed her for time they spent having sex.
Court documents say the two have known each other for years and Thomas Lowe agreed to represent the woman in her divorce. The two began an affair in September 2011 that lasted until the following March.
Court filings say the woman was hospitalized for mental health issues after Lowe dropped her as a client and disclosed the affair. The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility brought a petition against Lowe in July. After initially denying the accusations, a court document says Lowe now "unconditionally admits the allegations."
A message left at Lowe's office was not immediately returned Tuesday.
